While you won’t want to give up the emotional ‘return to childhood’, which is at the very heart of the theme park experience, Orlando’s move in the direction of all things luxurious is firmly established these days and it would be a serious oversight not to add at least one splash-out experience to your holiday.

Exclusive adventures like Discovery Cove, The Richard Petty Driving Experience and the Indy Racing Experience, Cirque du Soleil, the Blue Man Group and a host of genuine culinary wonders have given the area a true five-star appeal. Teens and adults will especially appreciate the chance to experience a bit of indulgence - without a pirate or princess in sight.

Admittedly, the Walt Disney World Resort has set extremely high standards in everything they do at the House of Mouse, leading the way for top-of-the-range resort hotels since 1971. Their restaurants have also always been among the finest for quality, ambience and fancy frills and the price bracket to go with it. For years the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress (which opened in 1987) was the sole genuine offering for hotel grand indulgence, now there are at least six suitably luxurious resorts in the region.

Orlando has caught up to other prime destinations for providing restaurants that rival the best and like all well respected restaurants, to avoid disappointment you need to make your reservations well in advance - usually weeks before you travel. It is almost unheard of that diners will walk in to a restaurant such as Emeril’s in Universal’s CityWalk or Seasons 52 and find a free table, this is especially true in peak seasons.
