Weekly Events
In addition to the huge list of annual events, the Orlando area also features some notable weekly activities that all add a little extra zest to a holiday here.
The Saturday Nite Cruise at Old Town in Kissimmee is one of America’s biggest gatherings of vintage cars (where vintage means anything pre-1972!), usually with some 300-plus cars collecting from 1pm each Saturday and then staging a parade down the main street at 8.30pm. There is also live music and other entertainment from 7pm. Best of all, it’s free!
There is also a free Friday Nite Cruise at Old Town, featuring custom cars, special interest vehicles and trucks dating from 1972-1987 at 9pm each week, and even a Thursday Nite Motorcycle Night. Both events are free.
Changing the emphasis, the Sunday Eola Market is now a regular weekly gathering of fresh produce, arts and crafts at Lake Eola and is another colourful part of the regular local scene.
Finally, music lovers should check out First Fridays at the wonderful Mall at Millenia, a free monthly concert series that features a good variety of musical styles, from classical to jazz and blues, from 5:30-8:30pm on the first Friday in every month.
