Driving in Florida

Hi, can anyone tell me, is driving in Florida easy as I have had mixed reactions when talking to people. I am going in May2005 and have a car for the full 2 weeks we are there (plus wife & 2 kids ).
We are going to as many places as possible, so any news would be great, thanks.

Driving in Florida is SO simple and easy, I love it!!
The majority of the roads are straight forward to navigate.
All cars are full automatic, with an engine size (on average) 3.0 litres.

Driving in Orlando is the best way to get around if you are planning trips to loads of different attractions.

Some hotels do offer free transport to theme parks, but not all of them, taxis and shuttles can be expensive.

A few points to remember though:

* You drive on the right!!! (Sorry, I had to get this one in)
* You at a junction you can turn right on a red traffic single (90% of the time)
* You can overtake on either side


When you are sorting your car out get an upgrade to at least a full size car, you will benefit from extra boot/trunk space and the extra space in the car.

Get someone to explain the handbrake button/pedal function as it took me ages to figure it out.

Regarding maps, there will be plenty of maps available at all gas stations, toll booths, restaurants and hotels.

Yes, its very easy to drive in florida, nice big wide roads, drivers are very laid back
(unlike here in spain) oh except miami which is like being back here (spain) and probably worse,

make sure you know your north south east and west as everything is blah blah north, and at first it was a bit confusing and we did get lost a few times, whereas my dad whose brill on his north/souths had no trouble, just incase your half a brain like me find out where your going first, as i dont know my left from my right, hope ive not confussed you
