We spent a great day at Alton Towers yesterday, I finally rode Rita, and went on all my old favorites, I cant understand why they have got rid of the Black Hole though, Downside of the day was the weather, it rained on and off all day, and The new ride Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we queued for 2 hours for it at the start of the day, from 09:30 and finally got on at 11:30 after it opened late and then broke down, I thought it was very poor, so did my kids who it was aimed at, its worse than Stitches Great Escape and that is saying somthing, I wont be queuing for it again anyway :(

i love Alton towers, lookin at going when the kids are back at school after easter.
i read somewhere that the black hole was in need of major repairs and it wasnt cost effective to do them , so now the tent thing lies empty :(
i wasnt over keen on Rita..... thought they could of done better.

I stayed there once. It was a very nice hotel. Lots of fun stuff for kids, like a magician at meal times etc and evening entertainment. My only rumble was we was really tired the first night we arrived and wanted to go to bed early but our room overlooked the gardens and the pavilion where all the music was.
The music wasn't too bad but the sound of people playing, shouting and running to and fro through the gardens was horrendous. :(

Can't believe that, didn't think it went quick enough to injure anyone. It's a motorised train too :D
Mr Orlando

i heard about this on the radio
here is some details
Four people have been taken to hospital and 25 others treated for minor injuries
following an accident on a ride at Alton Towers today.
The incident happened when the front carriages of the Runaway Mine Train became
separated and collided with another part of the ride at the Staffordshire
theme park.
The remaining passengers were evacuated from the ride, which can carry 46 people
in total and which has since been closed.
Staffordshire Ambulance Service said two women were flown to North Staffordshire
Hospital by air ambulance, while the others were taken by land.
A spokeswoman for the park said the train, which was full at the time, was
stopped immediately.
She said: "The park's fully-trained First Responders were also at the scene
within minutes and a number of guests are being cared for on-site with cuts,
bruises and minor injuries. As a precaution, four guests have been taken to
hospital.
"The health and safety of our guests is our primary objective.
"The ride has been closed and will remain so whilst a thorough investigation is
carried out by the park's management team together with the Health and Safety
Executive."
A spokeswoman for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said an investigator was
at Alton Towers to look into what happened.

I've heard of quite a few instances where people have fallen out, usually because they are doing something they are not supposed to during the ride like swapping places. A boy died on Val Halle (can't spell it) a couple of years ago because of that.
