QUOTE=ADRIAN C]Its costing us £333 for bed and breakfast for 7 nights in august for 2adults and 2 children in a family room with ensuite,Plus it has no car park so you usually end up paying parking, its only small it has 8 bedrooms, only 2 family rooms, but it doesent have stag or hen groups so its fairly quiet, and there really friendley, we first stopped there 17 years ago for are first ever holiday together
;) Ahh, they must know you really well! I can't believe how cheap it is, I paid £500 for a caravan for 7 days in August and then paid full whack for all the 'attractions'. You can imagine it cost a ridiculous amount of money. What's the name of the guest house and is it close to the seafront? Sorry to knock Blackpool, when I was a kid it was my favourite place to go.
Mr Orlando

Its called Clifton House, and is in Bairstow street which is fairly close to the centrel pier, you can find it in the Blackpool hotel guide or on the net.

i go to blackpool every year, my roots are there and my family live there. Went on Pleasure Beach this year in April (easter) and was annoyed. Nothing opened until late and the good rides were closed.
Whilst I like the big one (been on it sooo many times) nothing beats Valhalla, however I advise you to go on it on a "sunny" day as you freeze afterwards otherwise!! ;)

 We went last Summer and it was very quiet then. Actually that's why the kids liked it because it was a relaxed day out. So there are no plans for another theme park? Not much of an incentive to go now :( Still, I expect Mr O will like the Traumatizer if he goes to BPB again.

Hi guys, can't find a more recent thread for Blackpool Pleasure Beach so hope I'm posting in the right place. Driving over to Blackpool on Friday, (not my choice) but we want to have a look at Nickelodeon Land. Just bought some wristbands online and before I went to checkout bought some meal vouchers too, though the site is not very clear about exactly which restaurants they can be used in, they only cost £3.50 each so can I assume they're worth more in the restaurant? If anyone has been and can answer this question or indeed tell me anything worth knowing about Nickelodeon Land, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! :D

Went to BPB last week Veronica, cant help much with the meal vouchers as we ate in a chippy round the corner, but was well impressed with Nickolodian land it wouldent look out of place in a Florida theme park and the Spongebob splash bash is brilliant, its aimed at chidren but i think the adults get the most fun out of it. As for the rest of the park in my oppinion its the best them park in Britain.:happy-thumb

Thanks for that Ady, quite looking forward to it now. Only living just over an hour away from BP, I spent every childhood holiday there, never went anywhere else, so for me it got a bit tired! Haven't been to the Pleasure Beach since 2006, so I'll be interested to see the changes. Decent fish and chips sounds good to me but unfortunately I'm in the minority and it's already decided that we will be going to the 'all you can eat pizza' place in the park. Still toying with the idea of Valhalla and wondering if it's worth the soaking?

I've not been up there for a while, but Angelmouse and DS went up a couple of weeks back and had a good time.
When Valhalla is working it is a fantastic ride, but you do get rather wet as you say. A poncho works well though.

Looking forward to Nickolodianland with the Dd.

Hope you had a good time , sorry saw this a bit late to reply. We loved Blackpool. Edward is a bit old for Nick land but we had a walk around it. It has been done really well and much better than the old Beaver Creek. It hammered it down when we went and the Pepsi Max was not working:thumbsdow
We enjoyed the new pizza and pasta buffet which used to be the old Space Invaders ride, good value for money. I have been going to Blackpool since a child and love the Pleasure beach.

Hope you enjoy Blackpool too, shame the weather is dreadful at the moment.
It's about 1O minutes from where I live.

Well thanks for all your replies. I guess it's hard once your kids have tasted Orlando to impress them with anything else! However, I have to say that our day out to Blackpool was the most fun we've had in a while! We were really impressed with Nickelodeon Land, the theming is great and I agree with Ady that it wouldn't be out of place in a Florida theme park. Plenty of character photo opportunities for the little ones and Nickelodeon 'Camp Orange' slot at 5pm (held daily) complete with mealworm tacos and plenty of slime, was entertaining to watch. My kids are a fair bit older than they were the last time they went, so they were able to go on the bigger rides at the Pleasure Beach, but they still really enjoyed the Nickelodeon Streak and the Avatar Airbender (and so did I!). It was sad to see that the Nickelodeon shop didn't seem to be doing a lot of business and I wonder whether it's because there isn't a lot of variety (if you don't want Spongebob or Dora merchandise then forget it) or whether the prices are a turn off for the average day tripper? We ate at 'The Big Pizza Kitchen' which I think is the 'all you can eat' pizza and pasta buffet place that Angelmouse went to. We also liked it very much, think Cici's but with more of a restaurant feel, better pizza but no desserts :(.
We were lucky with the weather on the day we went so the park was fairly busy. Queuing didn't appear too bad (nothing by Florida standards) but we purchased the Speedy Pass anyway. You pay £7.50 each and an additional £5 for the little electronic device which looks remarkably like a Tamagotchi. This contains a list of rides available for the speedy pass and all you have to do is check the next available time for the ride you're interested in, press a button and it's booked. You don't need to be anywhere near the ride to do this. However there are only about a dozen rides for which Speedy Pass is available i.e. the Nickelodeon Streak and some of the 'white knuckle' rides.
Lastly, booking online we saved £10 per adult ticket (£5 per child), also if you book your parking at the same time you pay £6 instead of £8 for the day. You can also buy meal vouchers for £3.50 each with have a face value of £5 when used in any of the restaurants around the park (except Burger king). Not massive savings but in the words of well known supermarket 'every little helps' :D
