Can anyone tell me if you have to have a clean driving licence to drive a hire car in Florida?

I would say It really depends on what offences are on your licence and when they occured?
Best to check the web site of car hire companies to check their policys.
here are a few web sites

Thank you for your replys, it's only points for speeding, but I did not want to get out there and find out I could not drive a hire car. I will check out the Alamo website first as that is who we have the car hire with.

No worries. I had 3 points for speeding and nobody ever queried it. Sounds as if it's your first time driving on the wrong side of the road. You will soon get used to it and the great manners the Americans have. If you happen to get in the wrong lane at a junction, just put your indicator on and watch how quick everybody lets you out ? Certainly wouldn't happen at home. Another good point is, taking right on a red light as long as there is no approaching traffic. This keeps the traffic moving. All directions are either east- west or north - south so you usually get plenty of warning when you exit road is approaching. Just keep a eye out on the decreasing road numbers and get in the exit lane in plenty of time and you will enjoy the experience.
