as most of you probably stay in a villa when in orlando you will know it is wise to pick up some shopping on your way to your villa, so here is a list of some essentials to buy
tea
coffee
filters (if like us you like perculated coffee in the morning)
milk
sugar
bread
butter
pop
beer (always put beer in the boot of your car/van as it is an offence to carry beer in any other part of a vehicle - open or not)
do-nuts (nice to have as a pick me up with your morning drink, before you head out for a proper b/fast ) - (if you go to publix you can sample the do-nuts before you buy them MMmm..)
that should see you through the first night
dishwash tablets
washing powder
fabric conditioner
(your gonna want to do some washing in the first couple of days - clothes\ dishes)
personally i/we don't buy any hot food as after the long flight and with swimming in the pool when i get into the villa - but each to there own.
if anyone else has any other tips for your first day/night then lets hear them,

the missus has just reminded me of another tip
always pack your swimming clothes (trunks / cozzie) last, so it's the first thing you take out of your case when you open it - for that all important first dip in the pool

Another Tip, I always take breakfast cereals in my suitcase as the american ones are full of sugar. Fruit Loops send my 7 year old loopy!! I take weetabix and shreddies, you can't buy them over there. Their teabags don't taste the same so I also take Tea and Instant coffee.

We took tea bags. Also cereal bars for snacks in the park as the previous year we tried lots of the us ones but did not like them. Just to let you know Walmart do an aisle of international food and you will find alot of English brands :)

As with regards to the english cereals, I thought that bringing in food to the US was illegal??
BTW there is an english section at one of the Wal-Marts along Hwy 27, they have Weetabix there and even have marmite!!

Meat, dairy products and fruit/vegetables are all banned (i.e. any fresh produce). You can bring in canned and packaged goods like cereals, Marmite (wouldn't be without it ;) ) and chocolate, plus the obvious duty frees.

I didn't realise you could bring cereals in to the US. Mind you I don't mind the cereals over there, the crunchy nut cornflakes are very similar to ours and my Mum says the Bram flakes are too. :D

You'll find many of the same cereals over here, and the international section of most supermarkets locally can also supply the British versions of some as well. By all means bring your own if you want to save a few dollars, but you will find many familair items already here!

We bought HP Sauce and PG Tips tea bags from the British section at Walmart and they were just as good as the British versions here although as you all say a little bit dearer. Can't remember which cereals we bought, but was just wondering if you take them with you do you pack them in your suitcase or in your hand luggage.

You can't take liquids in hand luggage still, so some things might have to be packed in your suitcases.

This is my first post on your board. I did look for an introduction thread but couldn't see one. Hello to everyone anyway.
I just wanted to say that I've been buying Shreddies from Publix and Walmart for several years now. Couldn't say about the prices though.
Katie :)

Yes, the local supermarkets have learned (very quickly!) to stock up with a good range of "British' goods, so it isn't hard to find them. You will pay an extra few $$s, though (although places like Wal-Mart have periodic specials on things like orange squash!!).
