I know this is off topic and probably not even i the right place, but its been so long since I have been in here and posted anything

I'm off to Thailand (Pattaya) Wednesday, if anyone would like any info about some of the places over there, just ask away, (hotels, places to visit ;) , places to avoid :( , places that are a must to see and visit :) )

I've been going there for a few years, now, completely different from the US, what theme parks there are would fit in most US citizens back yard, you tend to make your own entertainment and its not all pubs, Thai girls,Temples, there are quite a few great places and things to see and do that the US just doesnt have

Apologies to any Mods that are around with ths posting (cant spend all my holidays in the US ;) )

Over the years I've been to Chang Mai, Chang Rai, Ko Samui, Phukett, Hua Hin, seen the death camp at Kwai (well, not really, its gone now, but where it used to me and the museum)
Bangkok, the long neck villages

I missed this when you first posted! No need to apologize....the ATD forums are about all travel, even if the main focus is Orlando. ;)

Would love to hear more about your travels to Thailand. I don't know that I'll ever get there (maybe someday!), but I would sure enjoy 'visiting' through your posts. :)

Hi Susan,
You would love the place, the hotels are VERY good, but you can get a lot cheaper accomadtion, depends what you want (I like a bit of 'posh' so try and stay in decent hotels)
The food can be a bit too spicey for some, but there are plenty of other dishes to pick from (german food is VERY good, and there are quite a few German resturants where ever you go)
There arent any theme parks like in the US, tho
But I enjoy the bars, the night life and generally people watching
The Thais are friendly people and always try and seperate you from your money with a smile
There are temples galore (20,000 odd temples scattered around), and they are all on top of a hill, with lots of steps :-) )

Its fav to take UKP and change over there, you get a better rate that way
There are 3 seasons there, hot, hot wet and hot wet and where's me brolly
Dont worry bout the language, most Thai's speak english (and rubbish)
Its well worth a visit any time of year, try to stay south though (unless you like long trousers during the 'winter'

Have you also visited Singapore, pepsi666? And is it similar to Thailand? This is definitely a part of the world I have yet to visit but am very keen to (along with Vietnam and China). Would you say they have a lot of potential for tourism growth in the next few years?

Havent been to singers, but did get to stop on my way when I was a squadie,
Vietnam as very good (especially the tunnels at Ku Chi, well worth a visit)
Never really thought of China tho, but it will join the tourist spots after the olympics I think
