Eurostar have just sent out their official announcement of the date for the opening of the new international terminal at St Pancras, swtiching from Waterloo, in November, and what it will mean in journey times, with the full completion of the high-speed rail link. It means even quicker journey times to Disneyland Paris in future!
Here is their press release:
"On 14 November 2007 Eurostar will be launching services from its new central London station St Pancras International. The last services to and from Waterloo International will run on 13 November 2007 and after that date Eurostar will no longer operate from this station.
The overnight move will follow the completion of the UK’s first high-speed line, High Speed 1, which runs from St Pancras International to the Channel tunnel. The first section of line was completed in 2003, and the opening of the final section will mean that non-stop journey times will reduce by a further 20 minutes to:-
St Pancras International - Paris 2h15
St Pancras International - Brussels 1h51
St Pancras International - Lille 1h20
Eurostar will operate at least 16 trains a day to/from Paris and 10 trains a day to/from Brussels.
Ebbsfleet International
On 19 November 2007 Eurostar will commence services from Ebbsfleet International, located on High Speed 1, just off Junction 2 of the M25 close to Bluewater shopping centre and Dartford in north Kent. Ebbsfleet International will have seven trains a day to/from Paris and five trains a day to/from Brussels and will be the fastest way to mainland Europe, with journey times 10 minutes shorter than from St Pancras International.
Ebbsfleet International - Paris 2h05
Ebbsfleet International - Brussels 1h41
Ebbsfleet International - Lille 1h10
This strategically located parkway station has excellent parking facilities and will be served by frequent Fastrack bus services to/from Dartford, Greenhithe and Gravesend stations, as well as Bluewater shopping centre. In 2009, the introduction of high-speed domestic passenger services will make Ebbsfleet International a hub for rail passengers, with connections to towns and cities throughout Kent and East Sus***.
Ebbsfleet International will complement Eurostar’s existing Kent station, Ashford International.
Ashford International
From November 2007, Ashford International will provide direct services to Paris, Lille and Disneyland Resort Paris. Travellers for Brussels and other destinations in France will be able to change at Lille. Ashford International will also continue to have direct weekly services to Avignon during the summer and the daytime and overnight ski services to the French Alps during the winter.
