Just thought i'd post a quick message for all those who dont drive while in Orlando area but want to get around without paying for cabs/shuttles all the time.

The first two times we visited we used Mears. Now dont get me wrong they were good serivce, but at $22 per person return trip it got expensive for more than a few trips. On our third trip thanks to "A Brits Guide" (i think thats where we saw it!) we discovered the Lynx busses. VERY good value for money, punctual, clean and safe. We were staying in All Star Sports but used the busses to get to Universal, Sea World, Florida Mall, etc etc etc. Back then it was onlt $10 for unlimited travel per week! The savings were huge. some examples of the routes we took: Disney TTC to Sea World - link 50, then hop on the link 8 for international drive, or link up with I Ride. Those are the only two i remember, but from i-drive you can get anywhere.

Far more cost effective if you want a few trips, like i say mears at that point was $22 per person. www.golynx.com for more info.

That's very good advice, dm. The only proviso I would add is that it can be harder to do in summer months when it is so hot and waiting for the bus can be a little bit of a trial, especially if you have children. There can also be some longish quues at the TTC when the parks close. But the Lynx system is definitely a big money-saver and you can see their whole system map online on the website in dm's post. Just look for the pink paw-print signs which indicate the bus-stops around Orlando.

They operate both from the TTC at Disney World (links 50, 56 and 302) and now from a big Downtown Disney stop, for links 300, 301, 302, 303 and 304, which are particularly useful. Link 300 is basically downtown Orlando to Downtown Disney along I-4 (i.e. no stops); 301 is Winter Garden to DD (via Kirkman Rd, but not really close enough to Universal to be useful); 302 is similar, but out further north to Ocoee and Apopka; 303 is north Orlando to DD (via Kirkman, Vineland Rd and John Young Parkway); 304 is more useful as it is downtown Orlando to DD via Sand Lake Rd, with stops at the junction with Mandarin Drive and at the top of I-Drive, at Oak Ridge Rd. Link 56 is also quite handy, from the TTC out into Kissimmee, along Highway 192, stopping at Old Town, Wal-Mart and Osecola Square Mall. For Orlando Premium Outlets, take link 50 to SeaWorld (which is stop 38 on the I-Ride), and then the I-Ride trolley south to OPO.

The Lynx stop at DD can be found at the West Side end.

Yes may not be ideal at peak times such as park closing. And could also be tiring waiting on hot days, but hey, you get to sit in the sun while you wait which is what all us brits want!

Ive never used Lynx before, we were going to get a taxi to Seaworld, but I may use the Lynx bus instead if its going to save me money :D

Take it from me, we were dubious - we are used to UK public transport after all. But we were well impressed with the service and the cost.

Really Easy To Get From Disney To Sea World On The Lynx Bus. We Went From Sea World To The Magic Kingdom Last Year And It Was Really Easy. One Bus Takes You Direct From One To The Other, :)

Sorry, but every time we go we get the car as it is easier and you don't have to wait for buses or check the times, plus you are not limited to where you want to go. orlando is your oyster.

no need to be sorry. you find it easier to drive. we found it easeir not to and not have to worry about parking, fuel, insurance, making sure none of your luggauge is visible etc.

We always used the Lynx, as we had very tight budgets and for $1.50 per journey you cant go far wrong!

Less if you use multi day tickets. :)
