Please someone help me i am at my wits end. I have booked a holiday months ago for me and my boyfriend to go to florida for 2 weeks, last week i find out that becuase i was charged for drink driving 18 months ago i need a visa. As i am going in just 6 weeks i have no time to get one. Everyone is saying i will just have to risk it and go...does any one have any real idea of what will happen, will they send me back or just question me, if i dont tell them will they find out due to the new fingerprinting thing.........i just don't know what to do. I have a return ticket, i have my licence back but am not driving out there any way and i am only 19 so cannot drink out there. Does anyone know?

YOU SHOULD REALLY TALK TO THE EMBASSY ON 09055444546 WHICH IS THE OPERATOR HELP LINE BUT COSTS UKL1.50 or go onto their web site www.usembassy.org.uk .You may not get stopped but on the other hand if you are stopped you could be returned on the next flight home.To get a visa you would have to make an appointment and go up there. It is really best to get it sorted because yoiu could get stopped each time you go to the USA every time.

also when you fill out the visa waiver green form you must tick no to all the relevant questions asked

were you "convicted" (ie sent to prison?)
If you were fined / banned, in theroy you should be ok, they only really refuse entry if you have been inprisoned.
hope i helped

my son had been arrested and he needed a visa for just throwing berries at a car at 14 he needed a visa, you have to apply online and it gives you a bar code then you have to arrange an appointment and when you have done that you go to post office and pay the amount shown i think it was about 60 or 70 pounds then when you get your appointment you go to embassy in london no non family allowed not even grand parents we know this as his grandad had to sit outside all day waiting till we came out, good luck, cos if you dont be honest you may get caught then again you may not but imagine yourself going through customs sorry but youll look like **** with worry good luck it may be worth while ringing an american embassy in usa say washington and appeal to their better nature to rush it through dont think you will have much chance in london failing that speak to your travel agent my friend is one and you may be able to change to a later date for a small charge but thats better than being sent back and losing all your money as the travel firm wont accept any responsibility best regards rpj

Try not to worry. I was convicted for having no car insurance.I went through the whole palliva of getting a visa. When I spoke to the girl who was processing my visa she said i did nt really need one although by this stage it was to late as i had paid. She said that although you need one in threoy they are not going to arrest you for car offences.Just remember to fill the waiver form as no offences.Hope this helps.

my son went for his visa in london and was refused as he has a criminal record and was still on probation. He was only 16. but he was told there and then, they say it takes 12 weeks but it was processed on the day. i would declare it and get your appointment asap and you should be ok.

Take the chance and don't tell them anything. If you apply for a visa with a DD conviction you will be refused. The only way they will know about it is if you actually tell them, just go ahead and enjoy your holiday I know plenty of people who have had no problems

To Melanie Buster, Sorry To Hear Of Your Predicament. I Was In A Similar Situation To You With A Driving Offence Which Resulted In A Criminal Conviction. I Was Told To Risk It As I Never Had Time To Get A Visa Or Lose Out On My Entire Holiday Without Any Compensation Whatsoever. Ive Got Two Kids And I Wasnt Going To Let Them Down. I Was Crapping Myself When I Got To Customs And Immigration And I Have To Say They Were Very Pleasant. You Have Your Photo And Fingerprints Taken Just For Their Own Piece Of Mind So They Now Have A Record Of Whos In Their Country. After A Couple Of Minutes Me And My Family Just Walked Straight On In. A Friend Of Mine Visited About A Month Ago With A String Of Offences And Also Walked Straight In. However Ill Be Planning Another Holiday To Florida In The Next Couple Of Years And I Will Definitely Be Applying For A Visa As Its Just Not Worth The Worry Especially When You Have Young Children.
