Here's a question we get asked a lot:

What do you do for special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, etc) during your Orlando holiday?

While it depends on the age of the person/people involved and their 'sense of adventure', it might be fun to have a thread people can refer to for ideas. I'll toss out a few ideas to get things started. Will you share your thoughts and experiences so our ATD family have lots of ideas as they're planning their 'special occasion' holiday.

1) Book an IllumiNations or Wishes Cruise, with or without the Birthday Package. Pricy, but it's a wonderful way to celebrate. The Wishes cruises are quite romantic, perfect for Honeymoons or Anniversaries.

2) Pick up a free Birthday Badge at Guest Services (or Town Hall in Magic Kingdom) when you visit the Disney parks.

3) Book a character meal. You'll get the royal treatment from the characters if they know you're celebrating something special.

4) Have flowers/wine/etc sent to your resort room on your arrival day. It will be ready when you open the door!

5) Arrange for a carriage ride (great for honeymooners and anniversaries!) at Port Orleans Riverside, Fort Wilderness or Grande Lakes Resort. With or without champagne, it's packs a seriously romantic whollup!

6) Climb into a hammock on the beach at Disney's Polynesian Resort (after dining at the Contemporary Resort's California Grill or one of the Grand Floridian restaurants) in time to watch Wishes over the Lagoon.

7) Dinner at Zen or Tchoup Chop, for two. 'Nuff said.

8) Take your teenaged birthday boy or girl on a shopping spree at one of the outlet malls, for an I-POD, new trainers or the gift of their choice. The perfect present for them, amazing prices for you!

Any more ideas? What have you done (or wanted to do) for special occasions

We went to the Pirates dinner show for my hubby's birthday. I put his name down on the 'celebrations' list at the door and his name got called out during the show. He was also chosen to take part in the pre-show activities and in the main show too. :D

We're deciding to eat at Hard Rock Cafe as this is what our 14 (turns 15 on 20 June) year old has requested. Such a modest request for a teen in this day and age. Of course she doesn't know we've booked a limo for 4 hours to expertly guide us around Florida - cruise I-drive and stop and alight at leisure.

Can't wait to see her face when the Limo turns up at the villa and her expecting us to head off to Walmart for groceries lol

Excellent choice, quacker, the limo rides are very popular and extremely well done in Orlando. You'll have to take lots of pics of your DD when the car turns up!

And welcome to the ATD forums!

Like your daughters taste. Either go to hard rock cafe or planet hollywood, both places serve up wonderful food. The limo ride is a really good idea.
