Yes I said £6 (six pounds)
About time, a few papers today reported that Ryanair is hopeing to introduce a few bargin price flights to the US. See Below for the Article in The Sun
RYANAIR plans bargain flights to America from just £6 a ticket.
Boss Michael O’Leary yesterday said he hopes to have routes from the UK to six US cities within four years.
The feisty Irish airline chief said the no-frills carrier will make its money on food, duty free and in-flight entertainment.
But the usual hidden taxes and fees on flights will add at least another £80 on top for the return trip.
The cheapest bargain flights to New York at the moment are over £230.
Also, just like their European short-haul routes, Ryanair jets would land at smaller, ‘secondary’ airports near the big cities.
Port of call ... Ryanair hopes to fly to smaller
airports outside of Boston, New York and Washington
Those being considered include Baltimore which is 32 miles from Washington, Providence for Boston (59 miles) and Long Island instead of JFK, New York (50 miles).
O’Leary said: “We’re working on plans to start flying the Atlantic. We’ve been approached by a number of US airports who are very keen.”
The news comes after Canadian low-fare airline Zoom announced flights from Gatwick to New York from June for as little as £129 one way.
