View Full Version : Best map for Orlando!

We have recently discovered what is without doubt the best map for Orlando, especially for people going there for the first time. OrlandoMaps.co.uk is a creation of fellow Brit and cartographer (and Disney fan!) Steve Munns, and he is just about to produce his second edition map, with all the latest additions to the Orlando scene clearly marked.
His Orlando map is clear, easy to read and puts everything in its proper place (unlike many of the free tourist maps, which are often immensely misleading). It shows all the main roads, the attractions, hotels and even many restaurants, plus useful additions like the Wal-Marts, CostCo and supermarkets like Publix. It is an incredibly detailed and well put together map and we would rate it absolutely invaluable for anyone going to Orlando at any time, but especially this year, with the new edition due out this month. Uniquely, it will also include a section on all the villa community locations on Highways 192 and 27, while it also has a big breakout map on International Drive, with accompanying text.
His website also publishes useful up-dates and tips to go with the map and is well worth checking out at "www.orlandomaps.co.uk." The map costs 6.50 (sterling, including postage) and should be available in the next week or so. We can't speak highly enough of it, but the simple answer is to see it for yourself!

Will have a look at it at £6.50 not that expensive and I like the idea of all the supermarkets being on it. :)

They are, karrie. Have you seen them? What do you think?
We've looked at loads of Orlando maps and never found any as good as Mapman's. Curious to hear what others have to say!

They really are terrific, and we're picky! Mapman has done a terrific job. We don't know him personally, have no vested interest in what he does (other than wanting a really great map), but we think his work is the best we've seen and we're happy to recommend him.

hi I ordered this map yesterday and received it this morning. I have to say it is very good. It lists villas, hotels ,restaurants, supermarkets shopping malls and all the parks and attractions etc. It's the best map I've come across. :)

While I accept a lot of the comment regarding accuracy , one of the best maps I've found that features most of the roads you need (but by no means all the eateries and attractions) is the Orange Map, free in supermarkes, Perkins and Denny's. Always keep a copy in the car.
Just had a look at Mapman's site and his map looks excellent. As I've just come back I'll put off a purchase until (hopefully) next year!

ive recieved a copy of the new map.im a little bit economic with my money and dont like to pay for something if a free one can do.BUT in this case it was money worth spending.i understand that shops and thing change but on the whole it is by far the best map i have ever seen of the area.i havent had the previous map so cant compare but this is soooooo much better than the free ones.

Is this map updated every so often? Would like to get one but not going for 18 months so wonder if it would be best to wait. :)

I think Floria Mad did give a review, Mr. O. ;)
I mean a proper review with scans to show why its so good, and the good + bad points.

Or......Mapman would probably be pleased to receive your order! :)
That would also avoid the sticky issue of breach of copyright.
Plus, the map is big, it's double sided and it wouldn't show up well at all on a scan.
And it's only 6.50GBP.
Go on....shell it out! It's less than the cost of a couple of pints and it's well worth every penny (is it penny? Farthing....tuppence ha'penny....don't know. Suffice it to say, it's nothing for the value you get, and no, Mapman doesn't pay us to say that!)

Ok....for those who are worried about what their 6.50 will get them, here's a review:
This is simply the most detailed map of the area you will find. It shows the location of just about everything a tourist would need to know and it's compiled by a registered British cartographer who happens to be a big Orlando fan and has been studying how bad the other tourist maps are. We think of him as the map-man equivilent of The Brit's Guide. ;) Someone who saw a need and filled it, with real-life travellers in mind.
He also puts updates on his website, which no other map company we know of does. He offeres a personal service that is second to none and his maps go beyond showing you 'where' things are, they also give good text-based information about the area, they make recommendations, and they include a yearly Rain/Temperature average.
But don't take my word for it. I'm a jaded Orlando driver who still, after all these years, needs to look things up on a map, and I have a deep and abiding dislike for every 'tourist' map I've seen for Orlando. This one is different. But the main thing is, I have yet to read a comment from anyone who has one and doesn't think it's terrific. That says a lot. :)
