Off the top of my head, I'm afraid I don't know, FM. But I'll look into it and get back to you!

Ok, from what I can make out, you;re paying anywhere from 100-300 quid for a decent system in the UK, and they are around $165-$500 over here. The highly-rated Tom Tom GO910 is around $499 at Circuit City and Radio Shack.
I don't know, though, if you are better off buying over here to use in the UK. I might have to make a visit to Circuit City to find out....! :D

OK Uk prices are as follows (for reference)
NAVMAN F20 £112
NAVMAN F20 Europe Edition (inc full European Maps) £149
TOM TOM ONE - £146
TOM TOM ONE EUROPE EDITION £186
TOM TOM GO 910 - £264
The above are prices available from where I got mine from - handtec.co.uk
I got the Navman F20 Europe Edition - excellent sat nav system.
Head over to http://whatsatnav.aceboard.com for full system specs and user reviews. and a chance to get FREE SPEED CAMERA DATABASE FOR YOUR SAT NAV
If you do get a satnav from the USA please make sure you can add UK maps once you get back home.

I had a good luck for a sat nav and found they were cheaper in the UK, the best price i found was in a place opposite super target near mall at millenia, i have forgot its name, think it was bj's but not sure, it was a type of cash and carry were you have to be a member but when i went in they gave me a day pass to get what i wanted, they also have food and other electrical equipment.

That's a good tip, m&sl. The store you went into was definitely BJ's Wholesale Club (similar to CostCo), but I didn't know they do day passes for non-members. There are two in Orlando, but the one by Mall at Millenia is the most central (the other is in Waterford to the north).
I went into Circuit City yesterday to ask about their systems and they said the only one which comes pre-loaded with the necessary European (or worldwide) maps are the Tom Tom systems, which range from around $260-$500. With the others, you would need to download (and pay for) extra maps after you buy the system. So it seems you need to do your homework on what's available in the UK before you head to the US.
Where did you find the best deal in the UK, BTW, m&sl?
Mr Orlando

The best deal i found was, as I said, from handtec.co.ck

mycheapnew.co.uk has good prices as does handtec.
I went to BJs customer service desk and explained i wanted to look at the sat nav, and the very nice gentleman said have a look round the store if i want to buy anything he would give me a day pass to buy it.
Also got told best buy on orange blossom has good prices on sat nav, and it may sound strange but we also tried staples next to wal-mart they had decent prices on sat navs and on digital cameras

I personally brought the Tom Tom 910 as its one of the only UK sat Navs that come pre-loaded with the US as well as the whole of Europe and Ozl. Its more expensive but what you shell out for memory and maps on lesser models is outweighed by the pure brilliance of the device.
Its a hands free phone kit (even reads texts to you - very funny), can play music via ipod or internal memory, can show photos via msd card, it also has built in facility to update itself via its dock on your PC. This includes all speed camera's and road changes. You can also get a plug in cable that moniotors traffic levels realtime and creates diversions to your route as needed.
It can be programmed 100's of diffeent ways including points of interets near your destination.i.e. an atm/petrol station/motel nearby etc. 1000's of POE's can be added when you dock it too.
All in all a top peice of kit.

I have the TomTom One and have simply downloaded the Florida Region Map onto a separate SD Card.
I have already stored several favourites and POI's and it even comes with Dunkin' Donuts POI's!!
This cost me around £40 to download.
(Not used it in the US yet........another 6 weeks and we'll see if it was worth it!)

It will be well worth it.
While you can get away without it. It does make it alot easier when you have last minute changes to where you are going !!
Just knowing you are going to have to turn in 1 mile can save last minute lane changes.
Even better if you add places in before you leave the UK.
