I know this question gets asked a lot but I need some answers. I am going to Florida in 3 weeks with my family. It's our first visit and we are all excited but for one thing. I was arrested in 1992 for hitting a chap who had broken into my sisters house. I was not convicted but did go through the proceedure of fingerprints e.t.c. at the police station. As I intend to use the visa waiver program I can actually answer NO to all the questions and so technically I should be o.k. but the embassy inform me I should get a visa! Will this arrest be known to U.S. Border Control and are they likely to refuse me entry? This worry is really putting a strain on what should be an exciting time for us in the build up to our first Florida holiday.Somebody please advise me???

if you were not convicted / charged with any crime then... in theory you should be fine.
i've been arrested before and not charged - and still got in.
*** Note to ATD ***
Can you please confirm to everyone on this board what is ok and not ok regards entry in to the US
Many Thanks

Dear All,
As a frequent visitor to Florida, i can asure you that even with a conviction you will still get in, unless it is for Fraud or child abuse etc then you will need to contact the American Embassey first.
i have no record, and yet i have been stopped twice, but just for the usuall questions of "is it business or pleasure for the visit" and "how long are you staying and where".
If they do stop you, ALWAYS tell them the truth. they are very nice people.
Have a wonderfull Holiday as i have had many over there
