i have seen yesterday on bbc breakfast they were interviewing some american talking about immigration officials and how the u.s wil be more welcoming to visitors. he made special reference to miami airport saying it needed a lot of work basically saying its one of the worst airports in the u.s and the immigration were not friendly at all bordering on rude. is this true has anyone flown into / out of miami it fills me with dread as im flying there friday any opinions?

I haven't heard that, but it wouldn't surprise me, I guess. It's not really their job to be friendly, IMO, it's their job to make sure they check to be sure those who shouldn't get in, don't. And Miami has that challenge, in spades!

Maybe I have a warped view of things, but I don't really care if they're nice to me or not, as long as they get the job done and I can get on with it. I expect them to be grouchy and cantankerous, so it doesn't surprise me when they're not nice. I think you get that no matter which airport (or country, for that matter) you visit, so just go, get through, and be done with it. If they're nice, so much the better. If not, nothing lost but a few minutes time. ;)

Orlando is going to taste that much sweeter, having waited until 'the right time'! :)

I know that 'can't sleep' feeling very, very well. It's been the bane of my last 15 years (getting better since being married to Simon; he keeps the worries at bay). But hopefully you're not sleeping due to being excited about your trip. It's going to be fantastic!

Don't worry about immigration...it's likely to go very smoothly and you'll be wandering the city looking like a tourist in no time! ;) Just enjoy every minute. We can't wait to hear about it when you return, too!

Ok....I'm heading out since I have to be up very early tomorrow. Wishing you a restful night (or what's left of it!) and the most wonderful anticipation as you get ready for your trip! :) :)
