About an hour ago I just booked a holiday to Egypt - Sharm el Sheik for October 2008 so now that is another thing I have to look forward to.
I just love holiday brochures and tour operator websites and I texted hubby and he said to go for it - so I have.

How nice, you will need that one to get over your Orlando trip! Egypt is somewhere I would love to visit. Is this the holiday you said the other day that you were going to have to talk hubby into?

Wonderful! Of all the places I would most love to visit, Egypt tops the list. Take lots of pictures so we can live vicariously through you!

Yes that is why we have booked it. But where I would like to go is Hawaii but that needs major talking to hubby about:laughing::laughing:
It is only for a week but I hope to get at least one major excursion into the trip. This our 2nd attempt to get there we did orginally have a 2 week holiday booked in 2006 but then 3 weeks before we went it had the bombing so we had to cancel it.
I have so many places to see in the world that hubby can't keep up with me. As soon as we have one holiday and come home that I am ready to book for the next one. It is just the thrill that I get from booking then having something to look forward to.:purplejum

I to get a thrill from booking a holiday and having something to look forward to. Really get the blues if I have nothing in the pipeline.
Have always wanted to see the pyramids, sphinx, valley of the kings etc.
Have a great trip and can't wait to see the photo's. :)

We went back in 2004. Stupidly we went in July and it was way to hot, no breeze or cloud for the entire 2 weeks!! October should be nice time to go. I would def recommend going snorkelling/diving we just went off the walkway over some reef in resort and it was like being in middle of a fish tank the amount of colourful fish there was!!
We went on excursion to cairo. went to Pyramids, sphinx, pyrus museum and cairo museum. In museum you can actually see some mummies and the best bit tutankamun's mask (but that could have been because it was the only part of the museum with air con!!).
Only downsides but they wouldn't ruin a holiday is the food and the men!! As they call it out there the 'eyptian curse' aka delicate english stomachs!! I was alright for first week but ill for entire 2nd (still managed the visit to cairo tho) so if your only going for a week you should be alright. If you do go to cairo and go to a bazarr (market) keep close to your husband, my boyfriend must have been asked at least 5 times if we would exchange me for camels!! Its like i wasn't there one even called me a cheap wife he got an earful! Boyfriend said if he knew how to get camels back to england i would have gone!! It even happened in resort as soon as i was alone the waiters would be over.
Just a word of warning theres a lot of soliders about with AKs about, we was even escorted off the plane by them!! I would have liked a heads up, so giving you one!
Hope you enjoy!

I'd be keen to hear your experiences at the Pyramids, which remain somewhere I'd like to see. I've heard a few negative reviews, though, which slightly put me off - along the lines of beind pestered by locals constantly trying to sell you stuff or wanting you to take a camel ride, guided tour, etc. It sounds a bit off-putting, so I'd like to know how you find it in reality.

Sounds good
I went to Sharm el Sheik last March it was a great holiday
Scuba diving in the red sea was great - weather was too hot - but hot enough
Out of interest which hotel you staying at?

Well I hope to enjoy and just relax - and maybe take in a sight or 2.
We are staying in the Sunrise Island View - which looks good on paper and the website - so we shall see.

Pyramids weren't as i expected, your just driving through this town turn a corner and there they are!! Supposedly there is more ancient eyptian stuff under houses/apartments but the people wont move out so they can have a look.
It was abit like what youve been told but the sight of just seeing the pyramids was worth it. I managed to take a picture of a camel without guy seeing cos if they had seen they would have come after me for money!! Going inside the pyramid was definitly an experience, they pile you in (like cattle!) down this steep low roofed slope (wouldn't be good if you had a bad back) with people coming back up the other side. When you get to the bottom theres a guy pointing up saying 'old entrance'! then as all the gold has been taken out its just an empty area with little alcoves off. I'm sure there is more rooms inside the pyramid that are maybe not for the public. Might not sound that good but is memorable don't think ill ever forget it. Once you make it back to the fresh air (it is very stuffy in there) you look like youve just been for a dip in pool (not a pretty sight!) cos it was hot outside but must have been twice as bad inside.
Couldn't really comment on the sphinx cos by that point me and my boyfriend was abit worse for wear, took a 5 min look then went back to the coach for air con and close amenities!
