Hi all
Virgin seem to have problems again, for some reason VS15 due out at 1245 today has a scheduled departure for 1200 tomorrow
Does anyone know why?
last time this happened it took them 10 days to get back on schedule
Hope no ones due to fly out in the next few days

Let's hope this is not the case. This is too awful to think about for people hoping to be starting their holiday. Virgin seem to be in serious danger of alienating a lot of their customers with things like this :(

Oh my God! You are kidding!!!!!

I can't believe they're doing this again!

I bet they won't compensate holidaymakers for 'stealing' a day of their precious holiday, either!

We are due to fly from Gatwick to Orlando on Wed.14th of May We are flying over from Ireland to London the day before because we were told travelling with virgin was such a great experience!! There isnt a great choice of flight operators direct to orlando so we would push the boat out this time, last time we flew with air 2000 and the flight out was so bad the running joke the whole holiday was how we were dreading the flight back:)
Any to cut a long story short I called Virgin customer services and they didnt know there was issues with todays flight until i queried it! He put me on hold to talk to his Team leader, who in turn told me the flight had left today. When I told him that the virgin-atlantic site was stating something totally different he put me on hold againt o come back some 7/8 minutes later to confirm that the website had the latest information and that the flight had been delayed unitl tomorrow but that two flights would be leaving tomorrow so there would be no knock on effect. They didnt know what the reason was for the re-scheduling of the flight but commented once or twice on "engine trouble" without actually saying it was engine trouble if you know what i mean. They probably are not allowed to say what the problem is. It seems the right hand doesnt know what the left hand is doing, and doesnt fill me with confidence whatsoever. It seems Virgins ageing fleet of Jumbos out of Gatwick are slowly but surely pushing for retirement while Heathrow has a fleet of 11 fantastic new 747's.. It cost most people alot of money (we have been saving for two years to go to orlando this year and even sarcraficed out hols last year to do it properly this year)
Its not fair is it?? lol:cry:

Wow, our son flew out to join us yesterday on the VS15 and although he said it was about 1 hour 15 minutes late it caught up a bit and he landed at 5.40 Orlando time 45 minutes late. All I can say is how lucky are we? or he would have been looking at I guess staying overnight with no change of clothes and one day less of his holiday.:tut-tut:

I remembered mid-afternoon that my friend told me last Monday (last time I saw him) that he was flying out 'next Friday' - I do hope this won't affect him. He's got 3 kids, 16, 12 and 6.

A work colleague is also flying out tomorrow or Saturday, and I wonder what airline she's going with ...

I do agree that these delays are certainly unacceptable, but the 747-400's at gatwick are actually younger than the fleet at heathrow. and Virgin currently have the 2nd youngest fleet in the sky. Think its probably more down to ground crew/staff or just bad luck:thumbsdow does seem to be a regular occurence though:tut-tut:

Does any one no if this affects Manchester flights ? We are going on 22/05/2008 so hopefully won't affect us. We once went with TCD and had a horrific 14 hour delay with them so dont want to go through that again.

Hi all
So much for no knock on effect!
Todays flight is now scheduled to leave at 20.00 7 1/4 Hrs late
Why does it take them so long to recover from any delay, its bad enough being delayed on your return journey but some people will be losing a day off there holiday and will not be compensated for that in any way

My colleague is flying out from Gatwick tomorrow morning - via BA. She's allowed the 2 x 23kg luggage, so I wait to hear how she and her family gets on. If they're more reliable than Virgin, I may defect!

Why does it take them so long to recover from any delay,

Unfortunately, unless they bring in a replacement aircraft for the route, it is up to the aircraft that was delayed to make up the difference and get back on time again. It usually takes at least 3 days for them to catch up after a delay of these proportions :(

I thought Virgin flight VS44 from Las Vegas was the aircraft used for the Orlando VS15 flight. this is usually the case.
But that flight was only 15 mins late today yet the Orlando flight is going out 7 Hrs late
They seem to want to keep the delays just on the Orlando run

If you go to www. v-flyer .com it will give you all the info you need about virgin flights. The type of plane and plane name used on flights, reviews, plane layouts, flight history etc. It states there that the vs015 flight from gatwick to Orlando over the last ten days or so was only completed by three different 747's.
To be honest it at the end of the day it wouldnt bother how we got there as long as we got there in time. The irony is we only chose virgin over our regional flyers in Ireland as we were like tinned sardines last time we flew to orlando and decided to push the boat out to go with virgin this time.
Orlando is a high tempo "squeeze as much time into your 14 days as possible" break so to be spending time stuck around an airport terminal as the holidays hours countdown isnt nice at all, especially when you are trying to explain to young children why there is a delay.
I am so unlucky that if it rained soup id be the only one on this earth with a fork!! ha ha
