We are often asked about where to find some rather unusual items, so I thought I'd start a thread on where to get some of the more unique things you might want during the course of a 2-3 week holiday. Chime in with your discoveries, and hopefully we'll have a useful thread to refer to. I'll keep updating in this post so it's all in one easy-to-find location. Ready? Go!

Body/Skin Care

Moleskin (to protect blisters once they have formed): Goodings, Walgreens and Wal-Mart

Body Glide (to prevent chafing where skin rubs together, like on your thighs or upper inner arms): Saucony runners apparel on Vineland Rd. and on I-Drive

Skin So Soft (skin-friendly mosquito deterrent)

Special Dietary needs:

Kosher/Glatt-Kosher food: Too Jays restaurant in Dr. Phillips; Lower Eastside Kosher on Palm Parkway

Gluten Free: Whole Foods on Sand Lake Rd and Turkey Lake Rd;

Well, if anyone wants to buy an pair aligator jaws or something equally as unsavoury, you can buy them at Boggy Creek! They also sell a lot of gator tooth jewellery, keyrings and stuff!

There's no accounting for taste, I guess! ;)

Just thought of another one: Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.

These little beauties are amazing! My dear mother-in-law turned me on to them (I bring them to her when we visit the UK). They're white sponges that somehow--magically!--remove stains, not only from the counter and sink, but more importantly, from your teapot, teacups and coffee mugs! You know how you get that little bit of staining sometimes? These sponges take it right off with one quick swipe!

Try 'em. You can get them at Sears (Florida Mall), Wal Mart, and probably at some of the grocery stores or convenience stores like Walgreens, CVS, etc. :happy-thumb

Yes, but I don't think they're by 'Mr Clean'. Lakeland do them, and I think 'Vanish' do as well.

You can also get cheap copies is many shops, but I can't vouch for their effectiveness.

Do you know what they are called over here? I don't have a Lakeland nearby and trouble is they all charge post and packing which can bump up the price. But if someone like Tescos or Asda sell them that would be good.

The poundland ones work fine.

They make my brushed steel stovetop look great!

Well, YAY!! Mum will be so glad to hear it. She's always had to wait for our return trip to get another box of them, so she's be pleased to know she can get them at home.

Ok...never mind about the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Back to your lives, citizens....
