AARGH Delta just changed my flights by 24 hrs

Really annoyed. Had booked to fly back from Orlando on 31st Dec via JFk and then direct to Scotland.

Just been sent an electronic change note which thank goodness I looked at in detail.

Looks like they have just cancelled the flight on the 31st and have just moved us 24 hrs later.

But here is the good bit.

We arrive in JFK on the 31st but have to wait for 32hrs for our connecting flight. No mention of help or accomodation etc

Last Christmas they try and refuse SIL departure (the UK American for those who followed that little drama).
This year its 32hrs at JFK

It makes me so mad when they do that.
I know they probably have their reasons, but, the logistics and cost of extending your holiday by a day, can be horrendous.
If it is 24hrs are you not entitled to compenstation, and a hotel overnight at their cost:confused:

Just posted another thread on this as I wondered about compensation.

On the up side we are now getting extra day in Orlando and the travel company is picking up extra nights accomodation as under UK/EU law its treated as a package.

Now possibly going to struggle with the out leg as I had not noticed that this had changed as well. Only 1 hr 5 min change at JFK. mmmm!

Aaargh Just realised I need to call the car company and pay for an extra days xtra car hire

You may struggle with just over an hour on arrival in the USA.
A lot will depend on 'where' you come into in JFK, whether you have to change terminals. do they have a nearby baggage drop.
These are questions that Delta should be able to advise on.
Ask them what happens if you don't make your connecting flight.
