We were JUST speculating on this a week ago!
Very sad for Dubai, but I can't say it's a surprise, given the state of things.

Jacobs emphasized that Busch and Nakheel remained committed to the project and would move forward "when economic conditions permit."
I'd be very curious to see it going ahead at ANY stage now. If the current economic squeeze continues for much longer, Dubai is going to find it impossible to build any of the proposed developments, and then people will withdraw existing investments in droves. Once gone, that money will never return as it will simply be invested elsewhere in 'safer' areas as Dubai will be seen increasingly as a major risk. Just goes to show, you can't just buy your way into the tourist market these days; you have to have something there in the first place to build on.

That's a shame for Dubai cos i am sure that the parks would've attracted alot of people who may not have considered it as a destination otherwise

It's huge turnround as Dubai has been a major investor worldwide, it just goes to show how problematic this downturn really is. :thumbsdow
I guess it also may indicate that InBev could struggle to sell the theme parks as they hoped, unless they write down their value just to get shut.
