We were there for Memorial weekend and insted of going into the parks we just went shopping and had rest days. We found some fantastic bargains at Premium Outlets as there were sales on everywhere.

Memorial Day crowds will start on Friday and end by Tuesday (-ish). Best to avoid the parks if you can, but if not, plan wisely.

Hi. I am going for the first time this year so not sure if this is good advice but have planned to go to Universal & IOA over Memorial Weekend & booked the express passes to bypass the queues. May be an idea for you if you dont want to miss the parks over that weekend??

Yes, Memorial Day weekend is always the last Monday in May. Only the Monday is the bank holiday, hence the Sat, Sun and Mon make for a very busy weekend; Fri is probably slightly above average for crowds, while Tuesday is almost back to normal. But this also marks the start of the American summer season, hence crowds then start to build up again from early June onwards. Best to avoid the 'smaller' parks (Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios) on those 3 days, but you should still be able to enjoy, say, Epcot, on the Sunday or, perhaps, SeaWorld or Universal Studios on the Monday if you can make an early start :)
