Hi i was wondering if anybody could recommend the best time to go to florida? My wife has just won a radio competition for 2 weeks there with everything thrown in included the slueth night dinner?(any info on this would be great also)The only conditions are that we can't go over the easter/july/august/christmas period so we was wondering when else best to go.I thought the last week of october to take in halloween and fireworks night(although saying that i dont suppose they celabrate guy forks).any other suggestions would be gratefully accepted.PS. this would be our first visit to the states so any other hints also would be appreciated.

congratulations you are going to have the time of your lives. I have been twice before and they were in august and september - both times it rained around about 6pm every night but it only lasts 10 minutes. We are going back in March next year which i have heard is a great time to go-no rain and just hot enough not to get fried! I have friends and family that have gone in June which is very hot but great if you want a suntan.
Hope you have a great time

Many congratulations!!! You will have a fab time whenever.
We went 1st time at end October taking in Halloween and it was great. Mickeys halloween party and Universal horror nights are not to be missed at this time. Weather was also fine about same temps as British summer so not too hot to be out midday. We were unlucky and had a hurricane but I think that was unusually late in the year and apart from that no rain at all. The parks were fairly quiet which is nice for your first time.
We have also been at Spring Break (late March early April) and found it OK for weather but very crowded with all the US kids and teens.
If I had the choice I would avoid all school hols (UK and US) and go October - November or JAn - Feb in cooler weather and no crowds.

As you know ( Charley, Frances and possibly Ivan) by now Aug - Oct (maybe later) is Hurricane season.
Although saying that i was there in Sept 02 and didnt really suffer a great deal of rain.
Have a great time.
PS A soon as you get off the plane in Orlando please please hurry past other passengers to get past US Immigration, if you dont you could be waiting for hours (espcially at Sanford airport)

Thanks everybody for the advise,
Mr O i realised that it could still be hurricane season there but wasn't sure,I've been to the caribean a few times during this period and never had a problem, maybe 10 minutes of rain a day and then dry again 1/2 hour later,so wasn't sure about Florida. The wife would prefer to go in june but i thought it might be nicer for the kids to go in october knowing how big halloween is over in the states.
Once again anymore do's and don't or opinions please feel free to give them as this really is an unknown destination to me.
Thanks Adrian.

Went to Orlando for the first time in late October 2003 on my honeymoon, wife loved it as well. We hope to go again in Januaru 2005 but this time with the children (teenagers) they have never been abroad before and don't know what we are planning. I would advise October/November or Jan/Feb, weather is magic, humidity is ok and it is not crowded. Good luck, have fun

October would be great, remember late oct. is half term.Halloween nights go right through oct.
If you like it hot go Easter to beginning nov. if you prefer it a bit cooler go nov-Easter always avoiding the school holidays if you can

I have been about 5 times now and those have varied between Sep and February!
All good times really just avoid Xmas itself, New Year Itself and Thanks Giving if you want to avoid the crowds! We were threatened with Hurricanes when there in the september although nothing came of it in Orlando itself. I would still say Oct - Nov or Jan - Feb are best times! These are typically manageable temperatures whilst very little rain.
AAnyone not been and toying with the idea DO IT, you will NEVER Look back! My mother in law used to say it never appealed to her and she would hate it so we paid for her to go one year and she has been EVERY year since (3 times now) and has just got back and is already arranging next years booking :)

I think the best time is late September early October, Halloween starts early Oct Xmas starts early Dec. The quietest time is November but not so hot. Try and avoid parks on St Columbus day parks are really busy but the shops have great sales think its in October. You will love this place theres nowhere like it. Regards Rosemary

Hi Adrian
I've been twice now the first time was the end of september beginning of october, it was fairly hot then but was not that busy in the parks. The last time i went for 3 weeks orver christmas and new year weather is very humid then and the park were busy as its the americans holidays too. They know how to display christmas light at disney though very spectacular. Going again this year but trying end of november to see what thats like as thanksgiving is celebrated when we go. Whatever time you go i dont think the weather could spoil it.
Hope you have a good time anyway. believe me ur kids will.

Hello
I must agree with the above quote. I have been twice around end Mar - mid April and am now booking for the third time. The weather is fantastic we've only been rained on twice during both trips. My tip is to get to the parks early, go anticlockwise around the rides and fast track whever possible. Fast tracking is explained on all the park maps for the Disney parks. You will have a fantastic time.

We have travelled at most times of year and found September to be the bst in terms of weather and lack of queues at the theme parks. That is, of course assuming that you don't get a hurricane !!!

my most favourite times of the year are:
late March / early April
September
November
these are the best times, for the weather (not too hot) but hot enough
and especially the queues
