I typed out a long description of calories vs weight for a McDonald's hambuger and regular ground beef (not lean) from a grocery store to give a comparions, but frankly, it's probably not important. We may have to agree to disagree when it comes to 'nutritional value' and its role in obesity as regards McDonalds.

Sadly, and this is my opinion only, the new restaurant (which is sort of the Latin version of fast food) isn't likely to be a whole lot healthier, though I haven't looked at the nutritional info for them and probably won't bother.
Your description calories vs weight is much appreciated Susan
agree about the "nutritional value" but don't find it a problem as i say if you have a healthy lifestyle it sorts its self out ,
never eaten at the chicken replacement but sure i will at some point , did see somewhere the chicken is steam cooked to give a soft healthy succulent taste "whoopee doo"

Just to add another thought into the mix re obeisity.

On last trip we sat and watched a lot of the measl and snacks etc round the parks or nearby.

Why cant you just get a small regular coffee. No it has to be huge. We just gave up and bought one and 2 cups. Sounds cheap but I got sick of waisting it.

Many of the places just give too much food with everything. Huge Muffins or Huge pretzels or Huge Ices etc.

I felt really sorry for many people as its almost imposible to not eat what you are given, bt also what waste (Waist?)

If Disney just cut down 25% on portion size it would help everyone.

Even in Sweet tomatoes, you saw people eating about 2,000 calories of lettuce!

Oh how I envy you MM.
I really do put weight on by looking at food

Was under the dietician at the hospital a number of years back, and we tried all sorts of eating combinations, and it was decreed that I have to eat 700 calories or less a day to lose weight around 1000 to stay steady and 1200 to put weight on

Now i'm happy, being a slightly larger lady, keeping a eye on my weight and if it creeps up to far, i'll make a concerted effort to lose a bit

Another one who envies MM.
I started off being very thin up until I reached "ahem" middle age and had my back operation, from then on I am now larger... It doesn't help that I love my food.
One of my very good friends has just been to the dietician at the hospital. She eats very carefully, goes to the gym but cannot lose weight (she isn't very overweight to me but wanted to do it partly for health reasons) Basically they have just told her that they don't know why she isn't loosing weight, she is doing everything right so thats that!
My poor hubby is another one who has struggled with his weight all his life, the only time he really lost any was when he went on those diet drinks they used to have in the early 80's. Of course as soon as he stopped them it all went back on and more. I think there can be a definite genetic link with some people and yes I do know that isn't everyone but some lucky people are what we call the "Greyhound" breed.
At least by trying to eat healthily (apart from bearclaws..) and going to the gym sometimes you have to accept what you are...

I got a chuckle out of this, mm, as it reminded me of a client who came into the clinic when I was doing my internship. Now, I KNOW this isn't what you mean, and there's no real comparison with what this woman said, it just sparked a funny memory so I thought I'd share it.

Anyway, we had a woman in the clinic who was having some long-term health problems, and wanted to get them sorted out. She brought in one of those giant black garbage bags (you know the kind...big enough for yard waste) and set it down next to her as she was relaying her symptoms. The doctor asked if she was a smoker. She said Yes. He asked how many a day, she said a carton. He then asked if she drank alcohol. She said yes. He asked how much. She gave an amount that made me and the other intern stop dead in our note-taking and stare at her. When the doctor gently suggested that may have something to do with why she wasn't feeling well, she dumped the contents of her garbage bag--about 40 bottles of vitamins, supplements, herbs, etc.--out on his desk and said, "No it doesn't! That's why I take all of these! They counteract and bad affects from smoking and drinking!"

And she meant it.
