The huge cost of parking is personally a huge reason we never take a hire car. We visited disney parks 10 days on our last trip which would have been a staggering $120 at the time. Thats a lot of spending money gone.

I think it's disgraceful, but I suppose if you take into account that there are 4 of us in the car, it brings the cost per head down considerably. There's a note on our town house's website which says that there's a Lynx stop just a few minutes north of the complex, which will take us to Disney for "a couple of dollars". Now, is that each way or return? If it's return, then it's better value than taking the car. If it's each way, then there's very little difference - and it'll no doubt be more than "a couple of dollars" this time next year.

The point about taking the car is the convenience. The number of times we've rushed out of the park to catch the last shuttle back to the hotel, which was a good hour before the park actually closed so we missed out.

Last time i went a lynx ticket was $1.75 for a return journey. I think kids travel free but im not sure on the age limit. For a family a can see the conveniece factor comes into play by using a car but we took our little one who was 3 at the time with all her kit and pushchair and it wasnt that much of a hassle. The bus drivers are patient and wait till you sit down before drivinv off. Ive got nothing but praise for the lynx system. The uk couls learn a thing or two about quick, cheap, clean and efficient bus travel from it.

Parking is also free for Annual Passholders. You just flash your pass at the attendant. At current exchange rates, the cost for a standard AP (i.e. without the water parks add-on) is around £325. If you only manage one visit within the 12 month validity, you're not going to save anything.
