It's an early start this morning as we leave the bright lights of Vegas in the rear view mirror on the way out of town. You're on your way to the very bottom of the Grand Canyon! The route takes us past both Lake Mead and Hoover Dam, before traveling through the desert to the small Arizona town of Kingman. There will be a short stop there to enable you to grab a very quick bite to eat. We'll head north east out of Kingman, though deserted countryside, before crossing onto the Hualapai Reservation. You actually travel on legendary route 66, before reaching the small town of Peach Springs where you meet the Hualapai tribeand they'll introduce you to one of the Grand Canyon's best kept secrets - there is actually a road all the way down to the bottom of the Canyon!
On arrival at the Grand Canyon you will meet your expert Hualapai Indian River Runner guide and after a short briefing you will be fitted out with life jackets and board your 8 person raft. The first rapids are just yards away from the boarding point and the exhilarating white water action consists of several Class 3 and 4 adrenaline-pumping rapids that will leave you tired, but exhilarated and shouting for more! The white water rafting trip takes you 47 miles down the might Colorado through the Grand Canyon. Part way down the route, stop for a nature hike to Travertine Canyon and Travertine Falls where you are served a tasty lunch within the unfolding drama of the Canyon’s landscape.
From the banks of the Colorado River, you will then ascend the Canyon cliffs to the West Rime of the Grand Canyon. Here you can enjoy the amazing views over the Grand Canyon or perhaps visit the Grand Canyon Skywalk (additional charge, payable locally). After a long but fun filled day, your original guide will take you from the West Rim back to Vegas, passing through the largest grove of Joshua trees in the world.
