This fully comprehensive tour explores one of America’s National Historic Landmarks, the Hoover Dam. On this tour you’ll travel aboard a pink Tour Trekker in small groups accompanied by an expert guide, more than prepared to answer any of your questions. You’ll take an acute look at the Hoover Dam, watching live presentations and an informative film on the Dam’s construction and history. You’ll be able explore an exhibit gallery and head to the observation deck, which not only offers the opportunity to witness magnificent panoramas of the Dam, but amazing vistas of Lake Mead and the Colorado River. Explore Hoover Dam from the inside out on this insightful and thorough discovery tour.
From the Lake Mead Overlook, you're transported to the Colorado River by van on the Lower Portal Road, where construction crews traveled each day. You'll see the original gauging station used to measure water level and flow, and dynamite storage bunkers used during construction.You’ll then take a guided Colorado River float tour aboard a raft, which offers some striking views of Hoover Dam, Black Canyon and mighty power plants seldom witnessed by tourists. This is absolutely the best photo opportunity of the Hoover Dam and Colorado River – a true postcard.
Tour operates: Daily, year round. Not available 21-28 February due to construction on the approach road to the boat launch.
Start time: There are 2 departure times. The early morning tour pick-up is between 7.00am and 8.00am depending on your hotel location and the mid morning departure picks up between 10.00am and 11.00am.
Duration: 5 hours.
