Our Guide to Empire Clipper Sailing Experience

The Empire Clipper is New York’s only tall ship and measures 160 feet long, with masts rising 135 feet off the deck and nothing will prepare you for the feeling when the massive square-rigged sails of New York's are raised and you head out into the harbour. As you get underway, enjoy panoramic views of the Brooklyn Bridge and then pass close to the Statue of Liberty. Other highlights included Ellis Island, the Manhattan Skyline, the fortifications of Governors Island and Battery Park. Depending on the winds and tides, the captain may sail up the Buttermilk Channel or out to the Verrazzano Bridge spanning the ocean entrance to New York Harbour. The sailing trip lasts around 90 minutes (the Twilight Sail option lasts 2 hours but is the same price!) and the prevailing winds all but guarantee an exciting adventure on the waters! This majestic schooner also features an on board bar where you can purchase original nautical cocktails and a wide selection of beer and wine.
