Our Guide to San Francisco Urban Safari with Alcatraz

San Francisco is one of the United States most famous cities, attracting tourists the world over for its art, culture and historical significance. On this unique 4-hour tour aboard an open air zebra-striped safari vehicle, you’ll explore San Francisco’s charm and beauty and have your guide take you to all the attractions that make this destination so popular and so special. What makes The Urban Safari unique is that you also visit some hidden and lovely areas of San Francisco not readily known to the visitor, nor even savvy SF natives.

You’ll have the chance to witness all the features the city is best known for, such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Twin Peaks and Golden Gate Park, as well discover some of the less touristic San Franciscan sights. Your guide will take you to wonderful obscure locations where you’ll take walks around diminutive areas and visit chocolate shops, bakeries, movie sites and art exhibitions.

Once the tour is completed you  will be dropped off at pier 33 for the short ferry ride to Alcatraz Island and prison. Step back in time and experience the legendary island that has been a civil war fort, a military prison and one of the most notorious federal penitentiaries in US history. This part of the tour is unescorted, but your ticket includes the award-winning audio presentation featuring actual correctional officers and prisoners who lived and worked on the Island, orientation video by Discovery Channel, ranger and docent tours, as well as historic gardens and abundant wildlife. (Audio tour is available in multiple languages.) You get to stay as long as you'd like. The sail time is time and date specific, but once you get there, you choose when you come back. Ferries return about every 30 minutes.

This is the perfect tour to make your San Franciscan experience a distinctive and unforgettable one.
