Most of the IFE systems on other airlines have touch screens and to be honest I've not noticed any tapping problems on any of my flights. Maybe I've just been lucky and not had someone playing games behind me, but I've certainly not had problems with people selecting their films.

The only problem I've noticed is marks on the screen in the most commonly tapped areas, like they have worn rather than not been cleaned properly.

I, for one, would not relish the idea of holding my arm up to tap away at a screen for ages!

I also note that the more they put in the seat backs, the thinner the padding is on the other side, so they look as if they could be harder on the back than the original seats.

Another thought - do the screens/units tilt? If they don't, the person whose seat it actually is, may be forced into keeping their seat upright for the whole flight, and that can't be fair.

We're going out on a 747 (hope it's a console one not the oldest, grottiest type), but are coming back on the Airbus. That will be interesting - but we had to give it a go!

The A330 is great you dont have to tap the screen, they have a controll box as well, so its your choice which way you use it, the best thing is you watch what film you want when you want, stop, start, pause loads of choice of films and games and the seats felt a lot more roomy, we really love the flight.

Do you what it's like down near the rear of the plane, by the way? We've been booked into the centre 3 seats, the first row of 3 after the 4 in the middle. Row 61, about 6 rows from the rear of the plane.

I'd rather be in the front of the plane (for getting off apart from anything else), but the guy booking our tickets implied that the flight could well be sufficiently empty for us to decide much nearer the time. At the worst, we can always try getting to DTD early and changing our seats there!

Hey! I've just had a thought. If we're 3 across behing a 4 across, how do they line up the seat-back entertainment/trays??? If there's any chance it'll be a fixed armrest and pull-up/slot out configuration, I'm changing seats!! I could sit in the bulkhead rows and get seats that are too narrow!

We were near the rear of the plane and we did get off quite quickly, it emptied a lot quicker than a 747, it was a really smooth flight as well.

I'm off to Orlando from Manchester in October on VS073 (Dep 13:45). Will this still be the 747 or the A330?
