Our second big dip of the 'winter' is now on the horizon, with a second major cold front that should sent the temp dropping back into the 60sF. The first major cold front last month dropped us from 93/94 (34C) down to 84 (28C) and this one could well knock a few degrees off that, too, in keeping with the temps we usually expect in early November, which should be around 79/80 (26C). We also have a "70% chance" of thunderstorms today, which would actually be quite welcome after almost two weeks of next to nothing, rain-wise.

The night-time temperature is now definitely keeping us cool, consistently dropping us into the low 60s at night, but that actually feels nice and fresh compared to the late summer heat. All in all, things should stay dry and bright for the most part, with really nice day-time temps anywhere from 75 to 87 (24-30C). November is also usually a pretty dry month, with little more than 2ins of rain on average, and the monthly forecast shows no sign of being wet at all (it's predicting 1.5ins of rain in total). As ever, we shall see...

Not a good time for the pool heating in families rented villa to pack up!

Oh, no, that would definitely be bad timing. It MAY not drop too far at the moment, though, as the ambient temperature is still on the warm side, so, depending on the size of the pool, it may not need a lot of heating to keep it at around 75F(24C)

From what they said to us online I think it is too cold for them to get in, maybe their great grandkids might! I'll find out more tomorrow when we speak to them, can't believe they are returning home Tuesday after three weeks, time sure goes fast.

It has certainly cooled off a LOT with the latest cold front. It brought a fair bit of rain, and even some stormy squalls that sparked a tornado watch in several counties, and some very windy weather elsewhere. The rain wasn't torrential in our neck of the woods, but several areas got almost an inch (which we could certainly have done with - just under a quarter-inch here, sadly).

Now the temp is struggling to get back to 70F/21C today, but there is plenty of clear blue sky, as there was nearly all of last week (with the exception of yesterday!). We should get back up to 82F/28C in the next 3-4 days, with the possibility of some showers Nov 7-9.

So, we had a full 24 hours of cool weather, but then the thermostat got turned STRAIGHT back up to Max. None of that waiting a few days for a gradual warm-up. Oh no. In real terms, it went straight to 11 (by November standards) and, instead of temps around 79/80F (26C), we shot back up into the mid-80s, and just kept on going. Today, some areas recorded 88F (31C), which is only 1 degree off the all-time record (set as far back as 2015), and we also have humidity back in the air, too, which makes it feel even warmer (more like 90-92). We have been promised another cold front this weekend, which will drop thing back into the high 70s, but our 'winter' is definitely starting off on a 'hot' footing!

Meanwhile, 'up north' in Michigan the temp is in the 30sF, and they are expecting snow. Lots of snow. Yikes.

What a difference in one Country, from mega hot in Florida to really cold and snowy in Michigan!

You can say that again, CL! It always amazes me that there can be a HUGE variation across the country, albeit the US does stretch almost 2,800 miles east-to-west and 1,650 miles north to south. We've often done the drive from Orlando to Michigan (around 17hrs non-stop) without thinking too much about it, but it's the equivalent of going from Rome to Stockholm!

PS: It's a balmy 85F (29C) today, with plenty of sun (with the humidity taking the Heat Index to 89/32) and very few clouds in sight.

Bet you're glad you don't live in the north anymore!

I remember one year when you posted photos of the snowfall engulfing your garden.
