Default The Death of the Dream Vision

Four years ago, we were called in to work on an exclusive story for Attractions magazine about plans for a mega theme park in North Texas that was the brainchild of two men, one of whom was a genuine Disney Legend and a former executive producer of Walt Disney Entertainment. It sounded far-fetched at the time, but the plans definitely forged ahead, and even ramped up when they were joined by a financier from Muscle Shoals, Alabama, with plans of his own. From there, the story became one of pure Hollywood proportions, with the stakes being raised to multi-billion dollar levels - and then collapsing, with the Feds tapping the financier as a Ponzi-scheme conman.

We were asked to do the follow-up story this week: http://attractionsmagazine.com/exclu...e-a-nightmare/

Blimey, what a shock to the real investors and a realistic dream.

You bet. By all accounts, the guy was a real charmer, but it turned out to be just another (cleverly-disguised) Ponzi scheme

I'm not allowed to say you could see this coming from miles and miles and miles away, so I won't say that.

    Shame for all concerned, though.

Yes, if it hadn't have been for Ron, we wouldn't have given the story much credence. But his involvement, even just as a consultant, meant we couldn't ignore it. It's just a shame they ran into the wrong person.

Call me naive, but isn't just terrible that there are some human beings that can be so despicable.

Very true, Elaine. We saw some of the initial artist's impressions, and they were fabulous, even bigger than anything Disney and Universal currently have. Some of those designs may still see the light of day, though, as they remain the property of the designers, not the failed park.
