    Default Air BnB?

OK, so we're having to include a few details on Air BnB in the next edition of the Brit Guide for the first time, after a change in local ordnance allowed Orlando and Orange County to approve short-term rentals in these areas (unlike Kissimmee/Osceola County, Clermont/Lake County and Davenport/Polk County, which have always allowed short-term rentals).

But does the idea of Air BnB work in the Orlando area? Would it appeal to you and how does it affect the holiday experience..??? It doesn't appeal to us at all, but we can see how the price might appeal to others.

TBH it wouldn't feature in any of my research or planning.

    Not for me.

There are a couple of apartment blocks in Manchester going to war with airbnb. Residential apartment blocks where a few are rented out in this way causing hassle to the people who live there. I imagine the florida market would be different.

Wouldnít look at Air BnB as heard too many horror stories of people turning up and the accommodation doesnít exist.

To be honest, itís likely to be a facility for renting out your holiday property. Which is likely to be what exists already. Yes their are horror stories but if you keep everything via website then you should be mostly fine and covered. Letís be honest we could list on and on the many holiday companies who have gone bust and left Florida holiday travellers stuck or similar that just provided flights or accommodation. Low cost holidays etc Most air b n b horror stories occur when someone says, oh I can save you money please send your life savings to my friend on x island, honest Bob Thompson. My friends nearly got scammed but AirBNB had the money back in their account within 24 hrs. For short term letís it could work well and given Disney for many are now charging $25 or so for parking that driveway seems cheap. In many parts it is causing disruption but thatís because people are buying just to rent out and that can displace the market etc. Itís a bit like UBER itís dusruptive technology that upsets the status quo and that can make many uncomfortable or competitively stressed. And as I said earlier we can list so many, XL holidays, All leisure , intasun, Diamond, Monarch, Globespan etc etc.most years 75 to 100 travel companies go under, oh and Travel city. Now yes sometimes you have an ABTA bind but with just accommodation you often donít. So balance the risks and take specialist insurance perhpasto cover you. I have, to be honest, found them to just be expensive, so sleeping on the bench outside the Veness household is at least fresh and clean

We used Airbnb to rent a house for a couple of nights when we took my parents down the great Ocean Rd. We had no problems was a lovely house, very clean. DS and partner have used Airbnb on a number of occasions with no problems. The only issue they had was at New Years Eve in Sydney where they had 1 night booked, the owners cancelled a few days before!
The apartment next door to DS is 'short term rental' and has been rented out via Airbnb. So far so good no problems.
Wouldn't do it in Florida as we have no need due to having plenty of accomodation to choose from via Diamond Resorts and using our points.
