Default Bye Bye Bongos; Hello Estefan Kitchen!

As Deb has pointed out, we have seriously omitted the Disney Springs news that Bongos is closing down in its location there, ending a 21-year Estefan association with Disney in that location. The Cuban-themed restaurant will close later this month and re-open as the all-new Beatrix in due course (probably much later next year, judging by the speed with which Disney Springs works, lol! You can also see this thread about it).

But the Estefans will NOT be leaving the Orlando area. Instead, they will be opening a new restaurant, Estefan Kitchen at the all-new Sunset Walk area adjacent to Margaritaville Orlando on Highway 192 (yes, it's really Kissimmee, but then everywhere is really just 'Orlando', isn't it?!).

Here's what we know about Estefan Kitchen:

The restaurant, nightclub and entertainment venue will be the first location outside of Miami, and will join the Estefans’ many other restaurants, including Larios on the Beach and Estefan Kitchen Express.

“Estefan Kitchen at Sunset Walk will be our fifth full service restaurant that will reflect the casual elegance of our Miami Design District location but with a style and soul of its own,” said Gloria Estefan. “Our menu, cocktails, music and vibe will offer a re-imagined taste of our culture to Central Florida and all of it’s national and international visitors. We are truly excited to open our doors this fall.”

PS: "This fall" is probably extremely optimistic. There has been no update on this opening since May 9, and very few (if any!) things at this Margaritaville location have opened on time. That's not to say it won't be good, just that we'll believe it when it's open!

I could never really take to Bongos. Maybe the Estefan Kitchen concept will be more to my taste.

The food (and drinks) at Bongos always seemed very acceptable, but somehow the vibe there just didn't seem to work very well.
