Default The Eat & Play Card

Many Orlando goers may not know about this handy little extra that can save you money in the main tourist areas, but we've got to know the people behind the card pretty well in recent years, and we're always impressed by their knowledge of the area and ability to tap into useful savings.

If you haven't come across it before, we made it the subject of a quick ATD blog this week, which you can see on this link:

We used to swear by the kids eat free card and the first year we used it, it was fantastic however the amount of restaurants that pulled out along with the type of restaurants that it left made it a total waste of time on our last couple of visits, all that seems to be left is fast food style eateries such as mcdonalds and Cici's (which quite frankly is the worst place i have every eaten at). I am being a little unfair as there are some decent restaurants that still participate but unless we kept going back to the same places made the savings no longer worth while. Unfortunatly i see this one also in the same catagory.

It seems to have a good cross-section of attractions and restaurants that I imagine would appeal to many British families. It could be an absolute no-brainer for some people.

It's something that has been around for a while and i have never bothered with it (and probably never will ) but you can probably save the cost of the card in one single trip to somewhere like Wild Florida. It is simple to use, just buy the card and carry it with you but i've always thought it's to much faffing around

To be honest, you can probably make a lot of the savings by picking up the coupon booklets up and down IDrive which is way more faffing around than this card but there are some on there where you won't find any discounts in the booklets or if they are they are small. I have no doubt you can easily save the cost of the card but it's probably something i wouldn't bother with.

Funny you should mention the coupon booklets. They were the inspiration for the creation of the Eat & Play Card, not because they were a GOOD thing, but because they were the same discounts over and over, with almost no variation. As Larry says,
we undertook a detailed audit of all the coupons in Orlando - every booklet, magazine, map and anything else readily available that had coupons, and what we discovered was astounding. There were so many golf coupons we stopped counting them and removed them from our analysis. From what remained, 26 brands were responsible for 70% of all the coupons and 80% of the coupons were for local brands and offerings that most people will never have heard of, or were in locations not convenient for most tourists – basically most people would never use them.
Knowing businesses that have tried to get their coupons into those racks in hotels and been told "there's no room," I'm not sure I see that changing.
