Yes, sadly, the convenience for overseas visitors who need the temporary disabled parking pass has fallen victim to yet more online fraud. It's really frustrating, as we were instrumental in getting this online/phone facility organised in the first place, but you can understand the problem with a handful of people (it's always a handful, isn't it) who get things changed, for the worse, for the majority. It does now require visitors to get the necssary US temporary pass as soon as they arrive, at one of the tax offices listed on the Orange County and Osceola County websites. Massively inconvenient.

I wonder how many of the people using this con are the same as who are claiming compensation for food poisoning at European hotels?

It is those people that make it very difficult for those of us that abide by the right side of the law. Its a shame there was no other way to make payments that can't be recalled like western union or a paypal payment. Oh well i guess i will just need to make the time for future trips too try and get to the office. Its a shame for frequent visitors that we will have to do this each trip. Does anyone know how long the queues would be ? I just pictured flash from zootropolis or zootopia in the USA.

Not certain how long it takes, but other forums have reported that it fairly easy to do.
I know it isn't the same, but DLP accepted photo's of Angelmouse's blue badge. as this was in her car in a disabled parking spot. They just photographed both sides of the badge and all was good, so you could do the same thing and add a photo of the car in a diasabled car parking space to show why you haven't got the original

OK, after much wrangling and prodding online, we finally have a new system to obtain a temporary placard in advance. With thanks to ATD member Paul Doggett (who flagged this up for us, and we have been able to get concrete details from the Orange County Tax Collectors office, who have been able to come up with a full system). Here's the full SP:

Parking permits: To use any of the plentiful designated disabled parking areas in all public areas (including the parks), UK drivers must obtain a Temporary Disabled Parking Permit, which costs $15 and is valid for 90 days (although you may renew a permit within 12 months for no fee). These can be obtained in advance via the Orange County Tax Collectors office at octaxcol.com/resources/visitor-parking-placards/ as follows:

    1. Visit the Contact Us page, enter your first and last name, email, choose the subject “Parking Placards”, provide a brief description of where you are traveling from, and press submit.
    2. A customer service specialist will reply as soon as possible with a checklist of required documents.
    3. Reply with your completed HSMV 83039 form, copy of driver’s license/state ID or passport and both sides of your UK Blue Badge as attachments.
    4. After document verification, the customer service specialist will contact you for payment processing.
    5. After payment confirmation, the temporary placard will be mailed to your home address.

There is a $2 processing fee for the online service, and you should allow 2 weeks for it to reach you.

That is excellent, should be a great help to those visitors who need the permit. Back slaps all round.

We can't take any credit. Apparently, this is something the Orange County tax office had been doing for a while, but they never told anyone about it! When Paul Doggett found out about it just by making a few inquiries, we took up the chase, and it is now formalised in that separate web page for email requests. Great to see an outbreak of common sense!
